Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking an experienced Network Systems Engineer to join our FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) deployment team. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of Internet Protocols (IP), the ability to work with cross-functional teams, and excellent communication skills. This role requires a strategic thinker capable of driving the completion of assigned projects and providing up-to-date, accurate status reports for all areas of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and derive requirements and specifications for IP (Internet Protocol) related enhancements.
- Assist in architecting the data strategy for storing, retrieving, and updating information across various tools and networks used on the FTI program.
- Collaborate with the Database Management team to create SQL (Structured Query Language) queries for data extraction and reporting dashboards.
- Work closely with the Software Development (SW Dev) team to generate software requirements at the system, sub-system, and component levels.
- Professionally communicate with internal and external customers.
- Continuously monitor and optimize internal processes, making recommendations for improvements where applicable.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in network engineering, information technology, or telecommunications with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or a Graduate Degree in Systems Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of direct related experience in networking with internet protocols, requirements, and data management.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Air Traffic Management systems, Air Navigation protocols, and terminologies.
- Relevant certifications in network architecture and security (e.g., CCNP, CISSP), and in SD-WAN and network architecture.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards in the aviation industry.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) certification (ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP).
- Expert-level knowledge of network protocols, architectures, and technologies.
