Job Description:

L3Harris is actively seeking an experienced Tax Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a key member of the Corporate Tax Department, assisting in all areas of federal and state income tax, including tax compliance, financial reporting (ASC 740), controversy support, and special projects. The ideal candidate is a team player who effectively collaborates with others, is flexible and adapts to frequent changes, has strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and review U.S. federal and state & local income tax and franchise tax returns, including quarterly estimated payments and extensions.
  • Prepare and review components of federal taxable income, including the calculation of complex book-tax differences (i.e., equity compensation, pension, etc.)
  • Compile and analyze data for key state tax estimates, including apportionment, blended tax rates, state modifications and attribute utilization schedules.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of our quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations pursuant to ASC 740.
  • Prepare and review tax account reconciliations and proofs to support our federal and state income tax balances.
  • Identify and perform tax research and document technical analyses.
  • Gather, document and support the testing of all relevant SOX controls.
  • Coordinate and assist with responses to audit inquiries from taxing authorities, and internal and external auditors.
  • Identify, plan and execute individual projects (general tax planning and modeling, M&A support, Research and Development credits, etc.), as necessary.
  • Contribute to tax process optimization and implement procedural changes to improve the tax function.

Qualifications:

  • Must reside in the Melbourne, FL area or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in accounting.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • CPA, JD, or MST a plus
  • Experience with a Big 4 or Regional accounting firm and/or large tax department of a multinational company preferred.
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communications skills.
  • General knowledge of tax provision/compliance software, processes and technology
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships cross-functionally and within the tax department and work well with others.
