Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Scientist Systems Engineer to join our Mission Networks team, with a key focus on the Managed Services portfolio of programs. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing complex communication systems and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of our mission-critical systems.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex communication systems for Managed Services portfolio of programs.
- Create detailed architectural documentation and technical specifications to support robust and efficient network performance.
- Oversee the integration and deployment of network solutions, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and security standards.
- Provide technical direction, consultation, and mentorship to engineering teams, guiding them on best practices and emerging technologies.
- Conduct technical reviews, peer reviews and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement security measures to protect network systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Continuously monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring the sustainability and security of the communication systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 19 years of prior related experience.
- 10+ years of proven experience in legacy Telecom technology development (e.g., Frame Relay, TDM).
- 5+ years of experience in emerging Telecom technologies (e.g., SD-WAN, OTN, 5G, LTE).
- Proven experience in leading complex communication network design, development, and integration efforts.
- Experience with Air Traffic Management systems, Air Navigation protocols, and terminologies.
- Relevant certifications in network architecture and security (e.g., CCNP, CISSP) and in SD-WAN and network architecture.
- Familiarity with aviation industry regulatory standards.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) certification (ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP).
- Deep knowledge of network protocols, architectures, and technologies.
- Proficiency in network design tools and simulation software.
- Familiarity with security protocols and best practices in network security.
