Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for a Network Planning Engineer for our NAS Enterprise Messaging Service (NEMS) which supports our FAA NextGen System Wide Information Management (SWIM) system. Located in Melbourne, FL, this exciting opportunity involves ensuring the NEMS system is performing optimally and that customer and stakeholder operational needs are being met.  It also involves working closely onsite with SW developers to deploy Java Message Services (JMS) and web services configurations to NEMS. 

  • Updating, troubleshooting, and enhancing solutions within tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, Orion, and Splunk, etc.
  • Designing and implementing new enterprise systems to meet emerging program requirements
  • Automating routine job functions in Python, BASH, or PowerShell as applicable
  • Scheduling and executing maintenance requests for proactive engineering projects and break fix scenarios
  • Working with other engineering groups to maintain, enhance, and resolve issues within the network systems, servers, and applications
  • Interacting directly with vendors for issue resolution
  • Monitoring, analyzing and troubleshooting daily status of the health of infrastructure and services within an operations center utilizing management and monitoring tools
  • Finding valid metrics and creating reports to monitor health of services and infrastructure.
  • Creating reports as requested by customer and program management to support information and analysis needs
  • Coordinating team activities during emergency events
  • Supporting on-call responsibilities (paid) and work after-hours as required
  • Developing and following detailed instructions and action plans for service restoration activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain FAA Public Trust security clearance
  • Experience in:
    • Network monitoring protocols/methods such as SNMP, NetFlow, and Syslog.
    • Networking principles and systems functionality, with the ability to troubleshoot OSI layers 1-7 throughout a COTS environment.
    • Linux OS (RHEL/CentOS) and Microsoft Windows OS.
    • Development of clear and concise technical procedures.

  • Preferred Certifications – Splunk, CA Spectrum, Orion, BMC Remedy, Cisco CCNA, CCNP; VMware VCA, VCP; NetApp NCDA, NCIE; RedHat RHCSA; Windows MCSA
