Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for a seasoned Project Engineer to support the FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) Program, with a budget of over $3.5 billion. The role involves managing the program's schedule and cost targets, covering various phases of the product lifecycle, including Design, Deployment, and Post-Delivery Support. The Project Engineer will employ technical expertise to lead and coordinate product development activities, including planning, scheduling, and directing engineering support. Effective communication, proactive engagement, collaboration, and strong risk management are critical for keeping the team aligned with the plan.

Essential Functions:

  • Project Implementation: Manage the cost, schedule, and technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer.
  • Full Lifecycle Support: Provide full lifecycle Project Engineering support for a range of deployment and integration efforts.
  • Leadership and Management: Lead a project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments.
  • Strategic Direction: Manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance, working under consultative direction against annual goals.
  • Communication: Influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts both within and outside the organization.
  • Innovation: Develop or champion new systems, concepts, or technologies, recommending tactics and strategies that impact overall business or functional results.
  • Status Reporting: Review the status of engineering projects and budgets, manage schedules, and prepare status reports.
  • Issue Resolution: Assess and develop resolutions for engineering issues to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify, track, mitigate, manage, and disposition program-level risks.
  • Resource Estimation: Estimate resource and material needs for the project/product.
  • Coordination: Provide coordination between resource managers/supervisors, ensuring all necessary reviews and approvals are received.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of Systems and Network Engineering
  • Interest in implementing solutions as a managed service
  • Proficiency in Earned Value Management.
  • Expertise in creating Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
  • Familiarity with best practices for project engineering and program execution.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline programs across various locations.
  • Proven experience handling projects with budgets exceeding $50 million.
  • Proficiency in Technical Supplier Management and Risk and Opportunity Management.
  • Experience leading government contract development programs.
  • Involvement in program pursuit and proposal activities.
