Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative engineer with geophysical expertise to support United States National Defense Corps (USNDC) and our data access layer (DAL) effort, including USNDC database stewardship and mapping to the Common Object Interface for the IAN tool. Scope includes architecting Keycloak/CI/CD/observability, hands-on cloud prototyping, and DSP/AI/ML data engineering with secure Docker-on-RHEL delivery on AWS/Python; the candidate is proactive, collaborative, and works onsite with the customer in a fast-paced environment, with strong systems integration and cyber-hardening required and AWS/CompTIA certifications preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance across geophysical analysis, DSP/AI/ML–based detection, and data engineering to advance DAL/USNDC integration and Persistent Surveillance objectives.
  • On-Site Collaboration: Collaborate with AFTAC leadership and existing contractors; support co-located working sessions as required to drive alignment and rapid iteration.
  • Sensor Data Integration: Lead ingestion and normalization of sensor streams for DAL services; manage datasets and pipelines used to train models supporting DSP algorithms.
  • Customer-Facing Representation: Serve as a positive, solutions-driven liaison, reinforcing a responsive and dependable partnership with AFTAC and industry teammates.
  • Mission Leadership: Direct Platform and Geophysical workstreams, mentoring contributors across software, cloud, cybersecurity, and systems engineering to deliver mission outcomes.
  • Program Support: Assist AFTAC leadership with roadmaps, milestones, IPT coordination, and progress tracking tied to DAL, USNDC, and Platform deliverables.
  • Platform Architecture: Produce system architecture and technical drawings for Keycloak, CI/CD, and log/observability toolsets, establishing a clear path forward.
  • Cloud Prototyping & Development: Perform hands-on cloud engineering and prototyping (AWS, containers/Kubernetes) to de-risk designs and accelerate implementation.
  • USNDC Data Stewardship: Support the underlying USNDC database, including mapping to the Common Object Interface for the in-development IAN tool and advising on schema/performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 years software experience or Master’s/Ph.D. with 10 years software experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior software experience.
  • Top Secret or TS/SCI Clearance.
  • 6-10 years python engineering on Linux (RHEL), including Docker-based workflows, CI/CD, and integration of scalable, production-ready services.
  • 6-10 years with geophysical systems, AWS cloud services, and data pipelines, with hands-on experience in DSP/AI/ML and secure, containerized platforms.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • AWS certifications: Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, and Data Engineer
  • CompTIA certifications: Security+, Network+, and Data+
