Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for a Project Engineer who will support our ~$1B/year Mission Networks sector.  The Project Engineer will support the FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) program’s Operations Support System (OSS) team managing the programmatic aspects of project activities to ensure schedule and cost targets are met. The PE’s duties are broad in nature and may encompass multiple phases of a project’s lifecycle to include Requirements Development, Development, Production or Post-Delivery Support. While possessing technical expertise and experience, the individual will coordinate and support the development and deployment activities. The PE plans, schedules and directs the engineering support of the program, and keeps the team on plan through proactive engagement, constant and robust communication/collaboration and focused risk management. The PE maintains open and clear communication with the PM, engineering function and assigned team members, suppliers and customer.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for full lifecycle Project Engineering support for development, deployment, and integration efforts.
  • Responsible for successfully leading a project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments.
  • Recommends tactics and strategies that directly impact the achievement of overall project results.
  • Manages the implementation of cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager.
  • Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports.
  • Assesses engineering issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Identifies, tracks, mitigates, manages, and dispositions project risks.
  • Estimate resource and material needs for the project/product.
  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.
  • Ability to obtain FAA Public Trust.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with best practices for project engineering and program execution.
  • Knowledge of Systems and Network Engineering.
  • Interest in implementing solutions as a managed service.
