As the Autonomy Principal, Product Management, you will be the driving force behind the vision and strategy of our AMORPHOUS product family owning the entire lifecycle. You will be responsible for building and delivering solutions that exceed customer expectations aligned to DoD requirements. It is expected that you will go deep to learn about critical gaps, engage with users, synthesize feedback, and build the product infrastructure to support our goals.  As a member of the leadership team, you should be able to work in partnership with engineers and architects, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with many competing priorities. You are often expected to be self-directed, and to be comfortable navigating ambiguity as you evolve the focus of the team. This role provides an opportunity to provide an immediate impact on real-world operations, ensuring we solve our customers’ hardest problems.

About You

You have experience in software product development and have taken something from a crazy idea through a shipped solution. You have a thorough understanding of full-stack development, AI/ML & Autonomy, distributed systems, can engage deeply with engineers on architecture decisions, and can prioritize features. You can turn conflicting or incomplete ideas into concrete action plans. Likewise, you can clearly say “No” when needed to cut through ambiguity and accelerate product delivery. You’re excited about building a team to achieve ambitious goals, and a bias towards action, moving with speed to produce function mission capabilities. You are curious, adaptable and you embody a culture of accountability, trust, learning and inclusion.

 What You Will Do

  • Listen to customers. AMORPHOUS is a rapidly growing platform, supporting key mission applications. You will learn and understand pain points, gaps, and address deficiencies.
  • Define solutions. Identify potential features that will accelerate our product and goals, create differentiating capabilities, and provide a world-class end user experience. To do accomplish this, you will engage end users for real-world context, perform research through industry tech investigation. You will translate user needs into well-scoped requirements and success hypotheses.
  • Prioritize and plan. Set clear outcomes for your product portfolio in partnership with your team, business partners and key stakeholders. Define processes and structures that allow prioritization of competing work. Ensure your team can adapt to changing goals when needed, based on new information, delivering minimum viable WOW to validate designs and solutions.
  • Develop and communicate vision and execution strategy. Proactively communicate goals to stakeholders and manage expectations of delivery. Escalate issues, critical trade-offs and key decision points as needed.
  • Execute. Work hands-on to deliver new capabilities across the lifecycle of the product, from initial release and onboarding, through day-to-day improvements. Validate and experiment along the way, acting as the voice of the user throughout.
  • External storytelling. Work with business development, proposal, marketing, and compliance leads to communicate product capabilities externally. Participate in large-scale customer demos.
  • Build product culture. Develop relationships to bridge business and technical worlds. Build tech alongside prolific engineers and developers, and then zoom out to work with business development, operations, marketing, and finance teams to ensure success.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 - 10 years in software product development, with at least 5 years specifically in a hands-on product management capacity.
  • A deep understanding of full-stack development, AI, Autonomy & distributed systems to consider capabilities and limitations
  • Fluent in software development life cycles.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills across functional and matrixed teams across a wide range of technical comfort.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in developing strategic plans and setting timelines for technical services.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and trends in software development.
  • Demonstrated success decomposing a problem into addressable component parts
  • Proficiency in communicating technological visions, opportunities, and risks.
  • Strong organizational skills to include planning, documenting, and action item tracking.
  • Experience with direct customer interaction for scoping licensed product capabilities.
  • Proven ability to motivate cross functional teams to do their best work
  • Monitor DoD needs to align recommendations with business goals.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, both foreign and domestic
  • Experience using AGILE methodologies
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Software R&D, product line management, and commercial software development.
  • Defense, national security, or aerospace domain familiarity through industry or education
  • Experience working in a developer focused product team (for example, in cloud services, SDK development, or internal platform infrastructure)
  • Up to 50% travel to multiple customer sites
  • Proven track record in aligning product lines, feature development and baselining.
  • In-depth understanding of the DoD and Service software transition pathway, software acquisition processes, DoD CI/CD and DSO tools and processes, and cybersecurity tools and processes.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related.
