L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Quality Engineering Principal to drive Operations Quality for the Manufacturing and Quality Excellence function within the Office of Global Operations at our Corporate Headquarters in Melbourne, FL. This role is pivotal in supporting L3Harris operations across the enterprise, ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards and compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance policies, standards, and procedures for L3Harris Quality Operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality standards into operational processes within the segment.
- Drive a culture of quality, focusing on reducing escapes and the cost of poor quality through a zero-defect plan.
- Lead the Quality Management System Council to address customer escapes, Corrective Action Requests (CARs), quality trends, and audit findings.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, including proactive quality measures.
- Maintain Enterprise Quality system tools and identify opportunities for process improvements and implement implement solutions.
- Support sites on key quality initiatives and training.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant quality and operational experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced business knowledge, general management, and leadership capabilities.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing quality assurance programs and systems.
- Strong knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and certifications (AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
- Experience identifying nonconformance and applying prevention using industry-recognized Root Cause Corrective Analysis tools such as DMAIC, FMEA, 8D, Cause Networks, and Lean techniques like Manufacturing Standard Work and Value Stream Mapping.
- Experience working with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and government contracts.
- Certification in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001) is a plus.
