Job Description:
Seeking an Ansible expert to drive principles and processes in infrastructure automation. This role will serve as a Subject Matter Expert in Ansible and automation tools, leading efforts to further integrate automation in both Linux deployments and across platforms, and champion the adoption of configuration management through automation.
In this role, you will create strategies for managing Ansible content via software content management tools, manage a cloud-based Ansible Automation Platform, and craft Ansible playbooks and roles that support and improve processes for multiple infrastructures.
This position requires a mastery-level expertise in Ansible tools, a passion for automation, DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices, and an understanding of continuous improvement through Lean principles. As a leader in the organization, you will mentor team members, teams, influence stakeholders, and recommend strategies to drive improvements in information technology management.
Essential Functions:
- Define and lead Ansible automation strategies aligned with organizational goals and emerging technologies.
- Manage Ansible Automation Platform, Private Automation Hub, Event-Driven Ansible tools, and mesh/high availability technologies.
- Create and manage Ansible Execution Environments with ansible-builder, ansible-navigator, and Private Automation Hub.
- Manage Ansible Automation Platform RBACs through AAP organizations and SSO-integrated user accounts.
- Develop Ansible playbooks and roles for provisioning, compliance, and configuration management.
Provide backline support for troubleshooting Ansible platform and execution issues. - Partner with teams to design automation solutions that meet technical and business needs.
- Drive new processes and technologies to tackle complex challenges and enhance performance.
- Mentor junior team members in automation best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- 5+ years of Ansible Experience, including developing playbooks and roles.
- 9+ years of operating system administration, preferably with Enterprise Linux distributions.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following tools and technologies:
- GitLab and GitLab CI/CD Pipelines
- Jinja2 Templating
- Container management using Podman or Docker
- Terraform or OpenTofu provisioning
- Experience with Ubuntu Linux is a plus.
- Familiarity with Python coding and scripting is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and manage complex technical projects.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including senior executives and key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement innovative solutions to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Experience driving process improvements across multiple functions or business units.
- Red Hat certifications in Enterprise Linux, container management, and/or Ansible automation are a plus.
- Experience with configuration management and Infrastructure-as-Code via automation.
- Proven expertise in one or more scripting language.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $119,500-$222,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $104,000-$193,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
