Job Overview:
As a Systems Engineer at L3Harris, you will be responsible for the system-level design and integration of complex engineering projects within the research and development domain. Your role will involve leading the development of systems architecture, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring that innovative solutions meet technical requirements and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of systems architecture, ensuring integration of all system components.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define and document system-level requirements and specifications.
- Develop and maintain system models using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
- Perform system trade studies and analyses to optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with hardware, software, and other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive system development and integration.
- Manage system-level risks, including identification, assessment, mitigation, and tracking.
- Develop and execute system verification and validation plans, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and support to project teams, including mentoring junior systems engineers.
- Communicate system design and progress to stakeholders, management, and cross-functional teams.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in systems engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience in systems engineering supporting the development of products.
- Proficiency in MBSE tools and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements management, system design, integration, verification, and validation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with systems simulation and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS).
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards and regulations.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools.
- Certifications such as INCOSE CSEP or ESEP are a plus.
