Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Systems Engineering architect to support enhancements to an established ground processing system. The successful architect will engage with customer, engineering, security, operations, and management personnel to define and document the solution requirements and designs, perform trade analyses, engage L3Harris Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to architect an affordable solution for system enhancements carrying acceptable risk.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Interpretation of customers’ mission needs with a focus on identifying solution space and requirements gaps
  • Design and implement ground system enhancements through development of architecture solutions that meet requirements and align with best practices
  • Determines whether enhancement requests can be met with existing capabilities/designs or if new solution designs must be developed
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to design and deploy ground solutions and services
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on technologies and best practices
  • Generation of system architecture views; decomposing proposed solutions to addressable configuration items
  • Demonstrates broad and deep technical knowledge; accesses Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as needed 
  • Leads the development of appropriate solutions to customer needs
  • Must be able to obtain a NOAA Public Trust

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience in managing the full lifecycle of complex engineering projects from conception to delivery
  • Experience with systems engineering principles and practices, including requirements management, architecture design, integration, testing, and verification

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Experience with relevant engineering tools and software.
  • Experience in the weather and antenna/RF industry is preferred
