About the role:
L3Harris is seeking an experienced Network Engineering Lead to support our Australia-based Managed Services program. This is an important role focusing on the planning, implementation and transition of a large network in support of the overall program delivery and is based in Melbourne, Australia.
This role provides leadership across the Network Engineering, Design Office and Implementation teams, translating L3Harris's previous experience standing up managed network services programs through development, deployment and transition into operational service. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of engineering and implementation activities supporting the delivery of enterprise network infrastructure and services to the customer.

What the role will involve:
The successful candidate will support the Engineering team, leading the implementation activities associated with the delivery, deployment and transition of the ENMP network capability.
As an Air Navigation Services Provider (ANSP), this position requires an Airservices background check with duties to include:
- Lead the Network Engineering, Design Office and Implementation teams responsible for the delivery of enterprise network services and infrastructure.
- Develop implementation strategies, technical direction and engineering solutions supporting the deployment and transition of services from the existing network to the new operational network environment.
- Lead the development and execution of implementation, migration and transition plans.
- Provide technical leadership for the establishment and implementation of end-to-end network, infrastructure and security solutions.
- Coordinate engineering, design and implementation activities across geographically dispersed customer locations.
- Support the preparation and delivery of detailed designs including interconnection diagrams, rack layouts, bills of material and implementation documentation.
- Work with Systems Engineering, Security Engineering, Safety Engineering and Verification & Validation teams to ensure solutions meet program requirements and compliance objectives.
- Participate in design reviews, implementation reviews, test readiness reviews, transition readiness reviews and In-Service activities to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
- Partner with program, operational and engineering stakeholders to ensure performance requirements are met throughout the implementation process.
- Work with Network Management and Operations teams to ensure tools, processes and procedures required to manage, monitor and report network performance are configured and operationally ready.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, suppliers and service providers to support successful program outcomes.
- Effectively communicate implementation progress, technical risks, deployment constraints and schedule impacts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage engineering, implementation, schedule and operational risks throughout the program lifecycle.
- Travel will be required within Australia to facilitate customer and partner coordination as well as support remote site audits and implementation activities.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s Degree, master’s degree preferred.
- 8 or more years of relevant job experience including analyzing, configuring, troubleshooting, designing complex enterprise networks
- 4+ years of experience as an engineer on large electronic systems integration projects;
- 4+ years domain knowledge of the Telecommunications industry, including carrier services, provisioning terminology, CISCO routers and network infrastructure.
- Understanding of WAN architectures (e.g. MPLS with Segment Routing and SD-WAN, VXLAN & MPN methods), and complex routing and switching
- Strong familiarity with Routers (Cisco ISRs, F5, Juniper CPT and Cisco NCSs) and Firewalls (Cisco ASA and Palo Alto is desirable)
- Understands signaling protocols, TDM framing/timing, WAN/LAN, TCP/IP, ATM and specific routing protocols such as IS-IS, BGP and OSPF, VoIP, DWDM, CTI and VPN technologies
- Thorough understanding of most enterprise IPv4 protocols and emerging IPv6 deployments
- 4+ years of experience with customer requirements reviews, design reviews and/or test and acceptance events with the customer;
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess an intermediate (CCNA certification, CCNP is Preferred or equivalent experience) level of experience troubleshooting IP network configurations.
- Experience working as an engineer on delivery of a Defence, or mission critical capability;
- Experience with part or full systems engineering lifecycle / systems engineering methodology, i.e. customer needs, system requirements, system design and/or system test;
- Experience with Security and Safety programs will be well regarded
- Experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment.
- Experience with engineering drawing tools such as AutoCAD and Visio
- Experience in Voice Communications Systems, Radios, Telephony (VoIP, analog or digital);
- Other less relevant but adjacent competencies such as programming/coding, electronics projects, ICT skills, hardware development, project management are also beneficial.
