Job Description:
L3Harris, Mission Networks, is seeking a technical leader to join our team as a Lead Network Cloud Engineer on our Enhanced SWIM (System Wide Information Management) Cloud Services (ESCS) program. This position will spearhead the design, deployment, and sustainment of secure, high-performance enterprise network environments, enabling critical data services across our National Airspace. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in multi-vendor networking devices, cloud-native architecture, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) with strong leadership and collaboration skills.
Essential Functions:
- Architect, design, and implement secure, scalable cloud-based network solutions supporting critical data messaging services for our FAA programs and customers.
- Lead end-to-end network engineering lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, integration, testing, documentation, and operational support (across Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) environments).
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for network security, RMF/ATO processes, firewall technologies, and cloud infrastructure.
- Own proposal efforts for network architecture, shaping technical solutions and influencing program awards.
- Act as primary technical liaison between internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with mission and security requirements.
- Develop and maintain system architecture documentation supporting program accreditation (ATO/RMF).
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and process improvement.
- Drive adoption of automation, infrastructure-as-code, and modern cloud technologies (AWS, etc.) to enhance agility, compliance, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to organizational strategy, process improvement initiatives, and engineering best practices.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a FAA Public Trust security clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience supporting defense, intelligence, or aviation programs.
- Certifications such as Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or CCNP.
- Familiarity with security tools (ACAS, HBSS, Splunk), automation platforms (Ansible, CloudFormation), and monitoring solutions (SolarWinds, Wireshark).
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-vendor network infrastructure (Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, Juniper), network architecture, routing/switching, and firewall configuration.
- Deep knowledge of network security best practices, including RMF, ATO, STIG compliance, and vulnerability management.
- Proven success designing and deploying cloud-native network solutions on AWS (VPC, Transit Gateway, security, automation using CloudFormation/Ansible).
- Hands-on experience leading cross-functional teams, mentoring engineers, and engaging stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience generating system documentation and security packages.
