Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer to support production for the Large Wideband Satellite Communications Terminal program. This role is focused on the manufacturing of high-performance hardware, including Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), sub-assemblies, and rack assemblies, while driving continuous improvement in automated manufacturing processes. The Manufacturing Engineer will implement process improvements and monitor operational and performance metrics to ensure high quality standards and on-time delivery.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, implements, analyzes, and improves manufacturing engineering plans, projects, processes, and systems.
  • Strong understanding of production budgets using Earned Value Management (EVM) to analyze, manage, and report on budget performance, including variance analysis, cost and schedule efficiency (CPI/SPI), forecasting (EAC/ETC), and stakeholder communication
  • Defines, develops, validates, and transfers manufacturing tools, strategies, methods, and systems into production.
  • Develops manufacturing strategies for specific products, assemblies, and processes to improve producibility, quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Participates actively with engineering project teams to coordinate the release of new products into manufacturing.
  • Leads manufacturing engineering efforts for large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization.
  • Estimates and tracks manufacturing costs, determines labor and time standards, and recommends tooling, equipment, and process requirements for new and existing product lines.
  • Investigates and resolves complex manufacturing issues through data analysis, root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Makes significant improvements to processes, systems, products, and manufacturing solutions to enhance overall performance.
  • Develops and maintains manufacturing documentation, process instructions, routings, records, and reporting systems used to coordinate manufacturing operations.
  • Establishes operational plans and provides input into new products, processes, standards, and initiatives that impact functional or business results.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience; or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience; or In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, tools, processes, and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex manufacturing or process improvement initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Experience in manufacturing process development, production support, process optimization, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders within and outside the organization.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and program management.
  • Ability to develop and implement operational plans with measurable impact on business or functional results.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience supporting new product introduction and transition from development to production.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, statistical process control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with manufacturing readiness, process validation, and production scale-up activities.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP, MES, or other manufacturing planning and reporting systems.
  • Experience with tooling development, fixture design, automation, and capital equipment implementation.
  • Ability to develop manufacturing standards, best practices, and strategic process improvements.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers, suppliers, and senior leadership.
