Job Description:
We are seeking an innovative Platform Architect to join our Platform Architecture and AI team. This role uniquely blends hands on technical architecture (60%) with strategic program management and stakeholder engagement (40%).
Hands On Technical Expertise Required: You must be able to architect, build, deploy, and operate solutions until handoff. This is not a purely advisory role. You will be writing code, building infrastructure, and directly implementing platform solutions.
You will serve as both builder and champion of our future platform engineering ecosystem. Your mission is to architect and scale foundational services and infrastructure while driving organizational alignment and adoption across engineering teams. You will empower teams to ship software faster, more reliably, and with greater autonomy by creating a unified Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
Essential Functions:
Technical Architecture and Implementation (60%)
- Architect and Build Golden Paths: Design, build, and maintain paved roads for engineering teams. Create reusable, self service infrastructure patterns, MLOps platforms, advanced CI/CD systems, and observability dashboards that make the right way the easy way.
- Automate Everything: Develop and manage core platform pipelines and infrastructure using IaC tools like OpenTofu and Pulumi. Drive automation across all stages of the platform lifecycle, from build and test to deployment and monitoring.
- Evolve Cloud and Container Ecosystem: Manage and optimize multi cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes). Ensure platforms are scalable, secure, and cost effective using cutting edge, cloud native technologies.
- Drive DevOps and SRE Culture: Lead the technical implementation of modern DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering practices. Mentor teams on CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and security best practices.
Program Management and Stakeholder Leadership (40%)
- Champion Platform as a Product: Treat the internal platform as a product. Engage with customers (developers/engineering) to understand pain points, gather requirements, and prioritize solutions that enhance velocity and developer experience.
- Lead Cross Functional Alignment: Build and maintain strong relationships across the organization. Influence at all levels to drive adoption of modern technologies and practices, breaking down silos between teams.
- Manage Delivery and Roadmap: Balance multiple platform initiatives while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards. Ensure delivery velocity aligns with architectural integrity and cross functional needs.
- Document for Scale: Create high quality documentation, training materials, architecture guides, and standards. Enable self-service and knowledge sharing through clear, comprehensive documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Containerization and Kubernetes: Strong understanding of container based deployment systems, including Azure AKS/AWS EKS, hybrid cloud distributions (RedHat OpenShift, SUSE Rancher, k3s, k0s), and underlying container technologies (OCI format, Docker/podman runtimes).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Extensive experience engaging directly with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable, high impact business solutions.
- Cross Functional Leadership: Proven ability to build and maintain strong cross functional relationships, effectively influencing at all levels of the organization.
- Delivery Track Record: Demonstrated success delivering and supporting enterprise wide infrastructure and orchestration initiatives with measurable business outcomes.
- Cloud Architecture and Governance: Strong understanding of cloud native operating models, platform governance frameworks, infrastructure as code, policy enforcement, and multi tenant infrastructure at scale.
- Technical Leadership and Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with analytical problem solving abilities and experience leading initiatives both independently and collaboratively.
- Multi Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards and balancing delivery velocity with architectural integrity.
- AI/ML Integration: Experience embedding AI/ML workloads into hybrid cloud platforms, including intelligent data pipelines, anomaly detection, or supporting inference platforms.
- Enterprise Systems Experience: Deep familiarity with enterprise scale business processes in complex environments such as L3Harris or similar organizations.
- Data Platform Proficiency: Understanding of SQL and enterprise database systems, including document stores and modern alternatives (DocumentDB/MongoDB).
- ITSM and Workflow Automation: Working knowledge of ServiceNow, including access control, change and release management workflows.
- Certifications: Holds or actively pursues relevant certifications such as AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, CKA/CKAD, or equivalents in cloud infrastructure, automation, and security domains.
