Job Description:

The Sr Associate, Inventory Management – Transportation & Packaging Operations is a working Sr Associate responsible for the hands-on leadership and day-to-day management of shipping, receiving, transportation, and packaging operations across multiple Brevard County sites. This role is equally rooted in the shop floor and the office — directly engaging with team members, materials, systems, and customers to ensure operational excellence, contractual compliance, and on-time delivery performance.

This position plans, controls, and manages activities related to inventory control, shipping and receiving, storing, traffic analysis, and distribution of materials and finished goods across sales warehouses, distribution centers, and factory operations. This role establishes and modifies operational methods and procedures, analyzes inventory levels and positioning, and ensures materials are available to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements. Working closely with programs, internal customers, DCMA, carriers, and freight forwarders, this role serves as the operational hub connecting the shop floor to the supply chain — ensuring zero customer escapes and 100% on-time delivery to external customers.

The Sr Assoc. directly contributes to the management team in support of employees across Transportation and Packaging/Shipping operations, providing daily work direction, training, performance management, and career development support. When needed, this leader works alongside the team — processing documentation, verifying shipments, operating systems, and resolving discrepancies — modeling the standards of accuracy, accountability, and excellence expected of every team member.

Essential Functions:

• Direct, and develop a team of Shipping Packers and Transportation support employees across Brevard County sites (Malabar, Palm Bay, and John Rodes), providing hands-on daily work direction, real-time shop floor coaching, and operational support as needed to maintain workflow, productivity, and manpower balance; conduct regular 1:1s, complete performance appraisals, set goals, identify advancement-ready team members, and provide input on hiring, training, promotions, compensation, and disciplinary actions
• Manage and participate in the daily execution of shipping, receiving, transportation, and packaging operations, including the creation of waybills, BOLs, freight bills, and all associated documentation; determine routing and carrier selection based on item characteristics, urgency, and cost; reroute urgent shipments and arrange special deliveries as needed.
• Inspect for non-conforming material and shipments per company procedures and track all production and non-production material using the SHIP tool and other applicable systems
• Interface directly with internal and external customers, programs, DCMA, carriers, and freight forwarders across all Brevard County sites to ensure contractual deliveries are completed on time and in full, maintaining zero customer escapes; participate in daily operational meetings and serve as the primary point of contact connecting shop floor activities to program and distribution requirements
• Troubleshoot and resolve shipment, inventory, and system discrepancies using PDM, MRP, SHIP, TMS, SAP, and other applicable tools; analyze inventory levels, positioning, and forecasts; oversee stock liquidation and transfers; interface with audit teams, the Material Management Committee, and the Inventory Cycle Count Committee to maintain inventory accuracy across all sites
• Actively participate in SHIPMates and the Corporate Freight Council providing site information, guidance, and support as needed. Audit carrier costs and performance; analyze transportation needs; coordinate domestic and international shipment systems; interpret applicable shipping laws and regulations; and prepare documentation for import/export shipments.
• Ensure full compliance with material handling procedures, EHS requirements, FAR packing guidelines, IATA Dangerous Goods regulations, DOT requirements, and the Hazardous Chemical Guidebook across all sites; oversee and participate in wood shop functions (as needed) and ensure team certification for all material handling equipment including pallet jacks, tow motors, and forklifts
• Document, maintain, and continuously improve SOPs for IWM teams across SAS; track and report department KPI metrics weekly and monthly; lead or participate in lean and E3 continuous improvement projects; manage shipping and packing budgets including overtime and supply costs; and lead and train team members on daily tasks, lean projects, and customer-specific requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
• Hands-on experience in shipping, receiving, transportation, or inventory management operations
• Experience processing shipping and receiving documentation including waybills, BOLs, freight bills, and packing documentation
• Ability to operate material handling equipment (pallet jacks, tow motors, forklifts) upon certification
• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain a security clearance if needed

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Hazmat certification — DOT and/or IATA Dangerous Goods by Air (required within 90 days of hire if not currently held)
• Willingness and ability to develop direct transportation documentation experience on the job is acceptable for candidates with strong adjacent logistics and supervisory backgrounds.
• Familiarity with enterprise inventory and logistics systems; direct experience with MRP Control, PDM (Agile), TrakStar, GigaTrak, SAP, TMS, and SHIP preferred but not required — candidates with demonstrated systems aptitude and transferable tools experience will be considered
• Experience with cycle count reconciliation and inventory accuracy programs
• General knowledge of electronic component handling, packaging, and storage requirements
• Familiarity with FAR packing guidelines, DCMA interface requirements, and import/export control regulations
• Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with internal teams, external customers, carriers, and regulatory contacts
• Strong problem-solving, customer service, and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites
• High degree of accuracy, integrity, accountability, and commitment to operational excellence
• Active security clearance
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
