Job Description:

As an Infrastructure Engineer at L3Harris, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Layer-1 infrastructure and data center environments. You will ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems to support our business operations.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Design, install, and maintain Layer-1 infrastructure including cabling, racks, and network equipment.
  • Manage and support data center operations, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of data center equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network issues.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to support infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor data center environmental conditions and ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
  • Maintain documentation of infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures.
  • Provide on-call support as needed for critical issues.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 1 (Physical Layer) connectivity standards and network topologies. 
  • Familiarity with cable testing tools (like OTDR for fiber) and experience troubleshooting physical layer issues. 
  • Ability to travel up to 10-20%.
  • Ability to obtain clearance. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proven experience in Layer-1 infrastructure and data center operations.
  • Strong knowledge of cabling standards, network hardware, and data center best practices.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and network issues.
  • Experience with data center management tools and monitoring systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., BICSI, Cisco, CompTIA) are a plus.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $77,500-$144,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $68,000-$126,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
