Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Field Technician to join our team and assist in the installation and maintenance of complex communications systems at FAA facilities. The technician will perform a variety of duties in the electronic, and/or electromechanical areas. Assists in the removal, construction, test and check-out of the fielded system. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with communications equipment, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Works from and understands schematics, operating or repair manuals, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Remove, install, configure, and test communications equipment and supporting infrastructure, at various FAA facilities.
  • Perform system troubleshooting and repair activities to ensure optimal operation of operational system.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret and implement installation drawings and specifications.
  • Support site surveys to assess installation requirements and plan logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety guidelines, protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Document all installation, repair, and maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly.
  • Travel extensively to various FAA facilities as required by project assignments for 3-to-5 month durations as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to obtain a FAA Public Trust clearance or a U.S. Government Security Clearance

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical electronics systems.
  • Proficiency with a variety of tools and equipment involved in communications systems installation.
  • Problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working on the Voice Switching and Control System.
  • Experience working on projects for the FAA or other federal agencies.
  • Certification in relevant telecommunications fields (e.g., CompTIA Network+, ETA International).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
