Job Description:
As the Release Manager, you will be expected to have the leadership and organizational skills required to manage and coordinate the release of PLM, MES, and ERP projects within our complex digital transformation program. Given the matrix structure of our organization and the need to manage both interim and future states, this role requires a nuanced understanding of managing interdependencies and shifting priorities across multiple systems and stakeholders globally. You will lead with confidence, passion, and commitment, demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership skills to inspire and guide teams towards successful execution.
Your primary role is to plan, manage, and oversee the release lifecycle, which includes scheduling, coordinating, and managing releases across the enterprise for multiple applications and systems. This involves acquiring resources, coordinating efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants, and ensuring that releases are delivered on time and within scope. You will also be responsible for defining release tasks, managing interdependencies, risk mitigation, and maintaining quality control throughout the release lifecycle.
Essential Functions:
- Develop Comprehensive Release Plans: Create detailed release plans, timelines, and communication documents to ensure clear and timely communication of release expectations to global team members and stakeholders.
- Manage the Release Lifecycle: Direct and manage the entire release lifecycle from planning to deployment, including managing scope, time, cost, quality, resources, communications, risks, changes, and issues.
- Coordinate Key Decisions: Coordinate and document key decisions to ensure interim states remain aligned with future system implementations, thus minimizing business impact and reducing rework.
- Deliver Status Reports: Develop and deliver status reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations related to release management.
- Manage Scope Changes: Proactively manage changes in release scope, identifying potential risks and crises, and devise contingency plans to mitigate them.
- Oversee Vendor Management: Oversee all aspects of vendor management for release activities, including the development of Statements of Work (SOW) and ensuring effective communication and delivery from vendors.
- Facilitate Release Management Process: Work with management and business units to understand release priorities, resource allocation, and scheduling. Define release scope, goals, and deliverables that align with business objectives.
- Guide and Mentor Team Members: Coach, mentor, motivate, and encourage release team members and contractors, instilling a sense of accountability and proactive management of their assigned responsibilities. Ensure effective collaboration and coordination among cross-functional teams to meet release objectives.
- Monitor and Report Progress: Monitor and report on the progress of releases, promptly addressing any issues or delays to keep projects on track.
- Implement Best Practices: Apply best practices for release governance and continuous improvement to enhance the release management process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Certifications in Release Management or related fields are strongly desired; ITIL or similar certifications preferred.
- Strong familiarity with release management software such as Azure Pipelines, Microsoft Project, JIRA, or ServiceNow.
- Experience in managing interdependencies and coordinating releases across multiple projects.
- Bachelor's degree in the field of MIS, CIS, or related field.
- Experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to enterprise system integrations.
- Current or ability to attain TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in NYC areas is $119,000-$221,000. The salary range for this role in New York state, $137,000-$254,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
