Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Tax Director to develop and execute strategic tax initiatives to optimize the company’s tax position while ensuring compliance with federal, local, and international tax law. This highly visible role involves analyzing complex tax issues, managing tax efficient structures and providing strategic guidance on mergers, acquisitions, and business operations.  The Director of Tax Planning collaborates with senior leadership, finance, and legal teams to drive effective tax strategies that align with corporate objectives.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, proven experience leading complex transactions, and strong business acumen. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced and growing organization by shaping the company’s global tax strategy.    

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement tax-efficient strategies related to global structuring, legal entity alignment, cash mobilization, acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Lead all tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, structuring, modeling, pre-divestiture and post-acquisition planning, and integration. 
  • Drafting, reviewing, and revising legal and financial documents to ensure tax implications are adequately addressed.
  • Provide tax insights on strategic business initiatives, including commercial deals, financing arrangements, and global expansion.
  • Partner with Legal, Controllership, Treasury, FP&A, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of tax initiatives.
  • Stay current on U.S. and international tax developments, assess implications and recommend planning strategies to address changes in the tax landscape.
  • Ensure proper documentation and governance for tax planning initiatives; coordinate with transfer pricing teams as needed.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors and consultants to support planning, structuring, and transaction execution.
  • Contribute to the development of junior team members and play a key role in shaping the long-term tax strategy.
  • Provide technical tax analysis and related tax provision impacts of divestitures and acquisitions.
  • Assist with associated return compliance requirements of associated transactions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience including significant experience in corporate tax planning, including mergers and acquisitions.. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • CPA license, Masters in Tax or JD preferred.
  • Prior experience in a U.S.-based multinational corporate tax department and/or Big 4 public accounting firm.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across levels and functions. 
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
