Job Description:

Our Supply Chain Capability Center team is a high-visibility team at L3Harris Technologies with the purpose of enabling strategic tools and delivering results through its partnerships with the L3Harris business segments.  Within the Capability Center team, the Should Costing team applies the methodology, framework, tools and training that enable best practice application of should cost models and product teardowns.  As a member of this center-led team you will have the opportunity to be trained in the leading A&D should cost modelling software tools and gain experience with the broader L3Harris products, systems and processes.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead should-cost analysis and modeling, serving as Power user of Galorath SEER modeling software and go-to resource for other users
  • Establish a strong network and foster collaboration with internal customers and key stakeholders.  Develop partnerships with Supply Chain, Program Management and Engineering teams to achieve cost alignment and meet financial objectives
  • Drive strategic supply chain contribution by establishing should-cost as a core capability in partnership with CHQ and segment teams, supporting supplier negotiations and sourcing strategies.
  • Support Design-for-Excellence (DfX), including Design-for-Supply-Chain (DfSC) and Design-to-Value (DtV)/Value Engineering, to influence early design and supplier decisions, improve manufacturability, and optimize lifecycle cost.
  • Track and report progress toward should-cost savings goals, presenting program cost performance through monthly savings scorecards to IMS leadership.
  • Build organizational capability by delivering should-cost training, mentoring internal resources, and fostering collaboration across Supply Chain, Engineering, Program Management, and other business segments.
  • Knowledge of metal, composite, plastic fabrication process, hardware assembly processes, printed wiring boards, and electrical components
  • Experience reading and interpreting testing and inspection specifications
  • Support development, implementation and adoption for new and enhanced supply chain capabilities using AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
  • Build organizational capability by creating, updating and delivering should-cost training, mentoring internal resources, and fostering collaboration

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Self-starter who can initiate engagement with people/programs to identify candidates and initiate should-costs
  • Technical aptitude and ability to drive knowledge transfer in area of expertise.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets.
  • Ability to work with multiple sources of data and assumptions, generate effective scenario and sensitivity analysis to test and refine estimates.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo costing, and work with category managers to bridge gaps and search for new opportunities.
  • Cost estimating experience and financial acumen.
  • Graduate degree in Engineering and/or MBA.
  • Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management.
  • Experience working with supply chain and/or suppliers.
  • Design for Manufacturability experience including the effects of manufacturing costs that are driven by product design.
  • Experience in CAD and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or six sigma experience.
