Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an Associate, Field Engineer to join our team and assist in the installation and maintenance of complex communications systems at FAA facilities. The engineer will perform a variety of duties in the electronic, and/or electromechanical areas. They will assist in the removal, construction, test and check-out of the fielded system. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with communications equipment, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work from and understand schematics, operating or repair manuals, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.

Essential Functions:

  • Remove, install, configure, and test communications equipment and supporting infrastructure, at various FAA facilities.
  • Perform system troubleshooting and repair activities to ensure optimal operation of operational system.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret and implement installation drawings and specifications.
  • Support site surveys to assess installation requirements and plan logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety guidelines, protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Document all installation, repair, and maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly.
  • Travel extensively to various FAA facilities as required by project assignments.
  • Obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust clearance

Qualifications: 

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or have completed their Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.
  • Proficiency with a variety of tools and equipment involved in communications systems installation.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work at various FAA sites for 3-to-9-month durations as required (Expect 90-100% Travel)
  • Utilize a robust engineering process to resolve technical issues to closure
  • Obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust clearance
