Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Sr. Specialist Semiconductor Process Engineer for the Focal Plane Array team at our Mason, OH location. As a Sr. Semiconductor Process Engineer you will support a variety of wafer fabrication tools and processes, perform data analysis for development and production work, identify process issues and process optimization opportunities, perform root cause analysis and drive mitigation strategies, perform qualification activities for new processes and tools, and provide sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area. You will have regular interactions with equipment vendors, operations management, equipment maintenance and a development engineering teams. Opportunities in photolithography, deposition and dry etch.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, optimize, and own production processes using advanced semiconductor techniques (photolithography, etching, deposition, diffusion, bonding, or mechanical wafer and die processes).
  • Utilize and support MES for operations management, tracking, and monitoring, including automation and AI capabilities.
  • Qualify, set up, and operate semiconductor wafer equipment for III-V semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Monitor and manage Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Fault Detection Control (FDC); identify and address process drifts.
  • Design and execute complex Design of Experiments (DOEs) and verify new tools and processes.
  • Lead root cause investigations for process and equipment issues.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance manufacturing quality, capabilities, and process robustness.
  • Develop and maintain detailed process, equipment, and operational documentation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams (Process, Product, Quality and Operations) for process and product improvements as well as mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment, complying with ISO/ANSI safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a Process Engineer in the semiconductor industry
  • At least 4 years of experience in statistical data analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) for process optimization and control.
  • Certified to work a Class 100 cleanroom or fabrication facilty.
  • 2 years experience in implementing methodologies such as FMEA, DOE, and root cause/corrective action analysis.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to lead working groups and present to change control boards.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in semiconductor manufacturing processes such as diffusion, photolithography, plasma etching, deposition, failure analysis, mechanical thinning, and bonding; strong emphasis on photolithography, deposition, and plasma etching expertise.
  • Experience working with III-V semiconductor devices and manufacturing; familiarity with advanced semiconductor manufacturing techniques and industry best practices.
  • Act as a key contact for technical inquiries and problem resolution.
  • Coding background, with experience in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar, would be optional but highly beneficial.
  • Strong ability to train and mentor technicians and engineers on process equipment and procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership in problem-solving, with a strong commitment to responsibility, ownership, and ensuring successful project follow-through.
  • Proven team player with a proactive and customer-oriented mindset and a sense of urgency to achieve job goals.
  • Continuous improvement focused with the ability to implement and sustain process improvements.
