Job Description:
As a Specialist, Software Engineer, you will support the development, integration, and execution of software for embedded target hardware. In this role, you will design and implement software based on requirements and system-level design documentation. You will also work closely with systems and firmware engineers throughout the development process to ensure effective integration and execution.
Essential Functions:
· Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to develop software for embedded target hardware.
· Use C and C++ to design and implement software for embedded Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
· Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and assess interfaces between hardware, firmware, and software, while ensuring alignment with system performance requirements and overall design objectives.
· Design, document, develop, and test software components in accordance with established software development processes, coding standards, and guidelines.
· Support all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware/software integration, and formal testing.
· Participate in peer reviews and contribute to defect identification, tracking, and resolution.
· Ability to obtain a Department of War Security Clearance
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
· Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience; or a graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
· At least 4 years of experience in the computer or software engineering field.
· Minimum of 4 years of professional C/C++ development experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
· Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
· Experience using DOORS for requirements traceability and linking system requirements to software requirements.
· Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSPs) for real-time embedded systems.
· Proficiency with modern C++ development techniques.
· Experience creating test scripts using Python.
· Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
