Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, Quality Engineer to join its Space & Sensors Division in Mason, OH. This individual will report to the Supplier Quality Manager and provide Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) support for various projects in the Space & Sensor business.
Acting as a central point of communication, ensuring that all team members are aligned with project goals, timelines, and budgets; the Sr. SQE will ensure suppliers deliver components that meet all requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Key Initiative Support Manufacturability assessments of new and/or critical products. Lead from the front and be capable of providing expertise in various manufacturing processes to ensure Design for Manufacturability and Technical Problem-Solving excellence.
- Supplier Manufacturing Support Leverage direct manufacturing experience to develop suppliers and ensure new and existing suppliers can meet contract requirements. Support the new supplier selection process, providing technical input and expertise.
- Supplier Management Support Monitor and manage a portfolio of suppliers to continuously improve supplier performance KPIs in Quality and On-Time-Delivery, while minimizing Cost of Poor Quality. Review and approve PPAP, APQP, and FAIR packages from suppliers.
- Early detection and resolution of nonconformances.
- Apply effective interpretation and application of Quality Standards, such as AS9100, ISO-9001, NADCAP, J-STD, IPC standards, etc.
- Travel of up to 40% domestically.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of Quality Engineering experience or a minimum of 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years’ experience in reading and interpreting designs/blueprints of complex nature. Understanding applicable quality standards such as AS9100, ISO9001, NADCAP.
- 5+ years’ experience with problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Value Stream Mapping, CAPA) and quality tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Gage R&R).
- 5+ years' experience in auditing Quality Management Systems at suppliers.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Lean Manufacturing and 6-Sigma/OpEx Green Belt Certification.
- ASQ® Certifications.
- Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing experience.
- Experience with J-STD Workmanship, ANSI J-Standards (Class 3) and IPC Workmanship Standards (Class 3), Teamcenter and TipQA.
- Highly motivated and ability to work independently.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
