Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Engineering Technician. This position supports a variety of mission-critical programs with specific focus on cryocoolers for sustaining engineering and manufacturing production along with new design and development.
Engineering Technicians at the L3Harris Sensors Division are responsible for a wide range of assignments, including analysis, and test of opto-mechanical, and electro-optical systems. These systems have demanding functional and performance requirements and must operate in extremely challenging environments. Engineering Technicians will interface with Designers, Systems Engineers, Mechanical Engineers as well as other discipline engineers, and Program Managers. Familiar with test methodology, troubleshooting of test equipment, electronic system troubleshooting, PC troubleshooting, cable troubleshooting and mechanical system troubleshooting. Duties may include integration support, engineering test and trial, specialized equipment set up, software and hardware diagnostics, as well as hardware characterization testing.
Essential Functions:
- Sets up test equipment and conducts tests of production assemblies and units following methods, procedures, standards, and sequences.
- Uses electronic test and measurement equipment in performing job duties.
- Assist technicians and engineers as directed.
- Constructs, troubleshoots, tests, and maintains electronic and electromechanical measuring and indicating instruments, devices, or systems as needed.
- Corrects malfunctions by adjusting or replacing parts or components as directed.
- Maintains engineering specifications and other related technical records. Compiles and classifies data to existing information as requested by the engineering department.
- Performs other job duties as directed.
- Build / Test cables
- Setup, test, and collect data for multiple cryocooler configurations in an engineering setting outside of production
- Work with Engineering to develop test plans for respective coolers.
- Works from Engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
- Supervised and unsupervised assignments in direct support of an engineer or program.
- Assisting other technicians, and engineers as directed.
- Collaboratively work within an IPT structure, and communicate appropriately with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance is a plus.
- Aerospace / Defense or equivalent industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of industry environmental test methods is preferred (MIL-STD-810G).
- Mechanical CAD proficiency using 3D modeling is preferred (SolidWorks preferred).
- Experience with Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) processing and electro-optical assembly design is preferred.
- Experience in cryocooler technology
- Experience in IR sensing technology
- Strong technical problem solving skills and excellent time management / multi-tasking ability is required.
- Experience with electro-mechanical Systems is required.
- Must be a self-starter, versatile and adept at functioning in a support role in small groups working on fast-paced projects encompassing initial test plan development all the way through test completion and data output.
