Job Description:

This role is responsible for driving product and process quality excellence by leading complex quality initiatives, managing cross-functional improvement projects, and establishing robust quality systems across manufacturing operations. The position independently manages quality programs, leads root cause investigations with advanced analytical methods, and implements strategic corrective actions that deliver measurable improvements in product performance and operational efficiency. The Specialist, Quality Engineering partners with engineering, suppliers, and customers to ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and engineering documentation while influencing process improvements across departments. This individual will strengthen and enhance the quality management system, lead audit readiness efforts, and provide guidance, coaching, and training to quality team members in developing strong quality engineering practices. Essential Functions:

  • Lead comprehensive analysis of complex defect data using advanced statistical methods and implement strategic, data-driven corrective actions with impact on departmental results
  • Drive and manage continuous improvement projects for quality systems and manufacturing processes, recommending enhancements that improve effectiveness across the department
  • Present corrective actions, process improvements, and quality metrics to internal and external audiences including leadership, customers, and suppliers
  • Review, interpret, and ensure compliance to company policies and procedures, engineering drawings, customer contract requirements, and product test procedures across multiple programs
  • Lead and manage containment efforts for non-conforming material, coordinating cross-functional response teams
  • Communicate directly with customers and suppliers to explain and interpret quality processes, practices, and procedures; gain cooperation on quality initiatives
  • Lead the revision and improvement of manufacturing work instructions and quality documentation across product lines
  • Initiate, review, and manage engineering design changes with consideration of impact across multiple job areas
  • Lead and coordinate material review board (MRB) dispositions for non-conforming product, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate corrective actions
  • Plan, perform, and lead internal audits of assigned programs; lead preparation activities and serve as key liaison during external audits
  • Manage quality projects or processes with general supervision, including delegation of work and review of work products
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to early career Quality Engineers and other employees within the quality function
  • Contribute to the development of departmental goals and quality planning efforts
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance or a FAA Public Trust Clearance

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Zero Defect Plan (ZDP)
  • Lean/Six Sigma training (preference is certified green/black belt) 
  • Understanding of IS09001/AS9100 and related QMS standards
  • Experience using RCCA tools such as FMEA, Pareto, 5 Why, 8D, and Fishbone
