Job Description:

 

Leads, directs, and reviews the work of assemblers, manufacturing, and engineering techs. Communicates within and outside own function to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices. Make moderate to substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions. Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team with direct impact on the short-term operational results for the department. Requires practical knowledge in leading/managing projects, processes, and employees and has strong knowledge within professional discipline.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Lead and develop production teams to achieve schedules, quality objectives, and cost targets while ensuring proper staffing levels and maintaining a safe work environment with robust safety initiatives (JSA, 6S).
  • Collaborate across functional departments (engineering, quality, supply chain, test) to ensure efficient hardware flow and resolve operational challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean manufacturing principles (Gemba, VSM, mistake-proofing) to eliminate waste, reduce lead times, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and manage capacity planning, resource requirements, and capital expenditure recommendations to support production objectives.
  • Monitor quality metrics and failure trends; implement corrective actions to achieve zero-defect culture and prevent customer escapes.
  • Analyze production performance metrics and initiate corrective actions to maintain workflow, meet operational goals, and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate team members through coaching, performance management, and training to build a high-performing production organization.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Strong written and communication skills
  • 6 Sigma Green/Black Belt certification
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), Material Planning, and ERP/MRP systems
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and managing production programs involving build, integration, and test of electronic/electromechanical systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated business acumen
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with experience developing proposal inputs
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing principles; mistake proofing, 3P, 6S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Root Cause Analysis, Gemba, Pull-Flow, etc.
  • Experience in leading a cross functional team or previous supervisory experience
