Job Description:
This position is responsible for quality improvement related to suppliers and/or subcontractors of machined components, fabricated parts, and manufacturing services used in development and production. Support the implementation of Zero-Defect Plans (ZDP) with critical machining and fabrication suppliers, by assisting them to develop robust manufacturing processes, perform process/product validations, and recommending manufacturability improvements (process and design). Supports L3Harris operations when supplied material is identified as nonconforming and drive corrective action(s) with the supplier. Analyze supplier performance and develop improvement plans to drive down supplier nonconformance rates.
Essential Functions:
- Use Six Sigma & Lean concepts for supplier improvement of quality and delivery metrics
- Provide training for basic quality methodologies to support supplier partnerships
- Support programs assessing potential new machining and fabrication suppliers
- Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies related to machined parts, fabricated assemblies, mechanical systems, and electro-mechanical components
- Perform and evaluate root cause and corrective action to correct product/process deficiencies, ensuring implementation with suppliers and effectiveness of actions
- Perform elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning (Process Flow Diagrams & Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis, and First Articles)
- Perform Statistical Process Control, Predictive Quality methodologies, and problem-solving methodologies
- Work proactively with L3Harris suppliers to mitigate the risk of escapes to L3Harris and L3Harris customers
- Ability to travel up to 30% percent
- Ability to work flexible hours on an as need basis
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- AS9102 FAI experience
- Working knowledge of PPAP implementation and associated elements
- Experience with Predictive Quality and problem-solving methodologies
- ISO9001/AS9100 and process audit experience
- Experience in ZDP Project Management
- Familiarity with precision measurement equipment and CMM programming
- Experience with GD&T interpretation and inspection methods
- Knowledge in machining processes (CNC milling, turning, grinding), and fabrication techniques (welding, brazing, sheet metal forming, assembly)
