Job Description:

The Business analyst provides business analytics and reporting to manufacturing operations on production programs. Identifies and develops metrics by working with users and stakeholders to understand data visualization and reporting requirements. Translates business results into meaningful metrics and recommendations aimed at improving performance. Responsible for performing financial and business performance analysis. Defines configuration specifications and business analysis requirements. May partner with leaders to assess needs and define requirements.

Essential Functions:

• Develop and maintain monthly performance reporting by evaluating historical data trends and forecasting future performance metrics to support data-driven decision making.
• Conduct detailed cost analysis across program financials, identifying key focus areas and delivering actionable recommendations to leadership to drive continuous improvement.
• Perform Basis of Estimate (BOE) development and learning curve analysis by researching comparable programs and applying analytical methodologies to support accurate cost estimating.
• Leverage business intelligence and enterprise tools such as Power BI, MS Office, and ERP systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, COBRA, EMPOWER) to input, manage, and transform data into meaningful reports and dashboards.
• Design and develop advanced data analysis solutions, including automated reporting tools, Excel macros, and VBA-based applications to streamline analysis of program financials.
• Establish and maintain baseline cost planning inputs by gathering manufacturing execution plan data to develop and monitor monthly cost and schedule performance indices.
• Facilitate action plan closure meetings, ensuring accountability, timely follow-up, and resolution of open action items across stakeholder groups.
• Prepare and deliver high-quality reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and executive-level documents that clearly communicate complex data findings to diverse audiences.
• Coordinate and support cross-functional meetings and events, managing logistics and ensuring effective communication across teams.
• Collaborate closely with Operations Managers, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering teams, and Program Management Leadership to align financial analysis with operational goals and program objectives.
• Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance. 

Qualifications:

• Requires practical knowledge of job area. Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and applying EVM principles to track project cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data modeling, with demonstrated ability to design clear and compelling tables, graphs, and charts for business reporting.
• Proficient in Power BI, including building and maintaining interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations; experience connecting and transforming data sources, using DAX formulas, and delivering actionable insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficient in relational database tools such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server, with experience writing complex queries, manipulating large datasets, and optimizing data pipelines for reporting and analysis.
• Experience developing Excel Macros and VBA automation to streamline repetitive processes and improve reporting efficiency.
• Experience writing technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs), including cost narratives and supporting data analysis.
• Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and quality assurance.
