As part of our team, you will design and develop cutting-edge public safety products, impacting millions of people, for our critical communication radio systems used by police, fire, EMS, military and commercial customers throughout the world.

We are looking for a software engineer to join a product development team chartered with high performance backend engines/servers that serve as the backbone on a land mobile radio system, paired with feature-rich user interfaces as well.  Our software runs 365 days a year, 24 hours a day in demanding environments such as 911 dispatch centers, naval ships, military bases, and multi-state public utility operation centers.  We take pride in the fact that our customers depend on our software during the worst of times (natural disasters, severe weather, crime sprees, wildfires, evacuations, personal tragedies, etc.).

Successful candidate will be willing to develop large scale production software in a disciplined engineering environment. In this role, you will focus on both back-end service layer development as well as front-end user interface features.  You will embrace the writing of automated tests in parallel with feature development, taking ownership of product quality, and supporting our DevOps environment.  This position requires little to no travel.

Essential Functions:

  • As a development team member, the successful candidate will be personally responsible for:
    • Implementation of software components in an agile development environment
    • Writing automated tests to verify functionality
    • Participating in & creating requirements, design, and code reviews
    • Generating & maintaining personal schedules, milestones, and deliveries
    • Providing input for release notes and other technical documentation (user’s manuals, etc.)
    • Use of configuration management tools for issue tracking and version control

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Database experience (SQL Server, Sybase, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Java application programing experience (especially server/desktop environments).

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • BS/MS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Security, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience with a minimum 4+ years of relevant professional development (2+ with MS degree)
  • Agile/scrum/Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline experience (ex:Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.)
  • DevOps experience
  • Distributed version control experience (ex: Git)
  • Full stack experience (both front-end GUI development & back-end business logic programming)
  • Knowledge of multi-processor & multi-threaded application development best practices
  • Automated testing experience (unit tests, functional/product level automation, etc.)
  • Embedded software development (ex: C, C++)
  • Microsoft Windows application programing (C#, C++, Microsoft .NET, etc.)
  • Cloud-based software development (ex: AWS, Azure, NoSQL databases, IoT frameworks, etc.)
  • Front-end web development (ex: Angular, Bootstrap, CSS, HTML, Javascript)
  • Back-end web development (ex: Java, ASP.NET core)
  • Lifelong learner; willing to continuously sharpen one’s skillsets
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $83,000 - $154,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
