Job Description:
L3Harris WESCAM USA (WUSA) is looking for Specialist, Project Management (Senior Sensor Operator). This position will be responsible for delivering WESCAM Advanced Sensor Operator training to internal staff and customers at worldwide locations, as well as providing primary support for the L3Harris Wescam USA Sales Support department and Wescam USA Air Operations.
The role will support airborne sensor training as part of an integrated ground and air team, providing Mission and Continuation training to sensor and systems operators in accordance with WESCAM syllabus and training objectives. This position will provide Technical Training demonstrations to airborne sensor operators on WESCAM MX-series products and integrated mission systems at CONUS and OCONUS locations around the world. The Technical Trainer duties will provide support and training to various customers and agencies, such as U.S. Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, and DOD Military personnel.
This role will also provide on-site and remote customer product demonstrations, integration, and support in all phases of setup, testing, operation and teardown of WESCAM MX-series equipment on a range of aircraft, ground-tethered and ground-based platforms.
The home location for this role will be at WUSA Air Operations facility in Loveland, Colorado, which supports special mission aircraft and hosts other unique customers each year for flight demonstrations, testing, developmental missions, and training.
This role requires highly proficient MX airborne and ground-based operation with unmatched technical acuity, polished customer-forward communication and presentation skills, specialized systems-based integration and troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to work under limited supervision, while handling difficult situations efficiently and independently.
Essential Functions:
The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for these roles but does not restrict the multitude of tasks that may be assigned:
· Act as Sensor Operator Subject Matter Expert (SME) for training, planning and operation of WESCAM MX series of products and integrated mission systems.
· Conduct training and flight activities in accordance with all governing directives and laws.
· Assist in the sales and bid activities that require responses for operations and integrated mission systems training.
· Plan, prepare for and deliver sensor and integrated mission systems operations courses to various customers worldwide (at times through the use of an interpreter or translator).
· Design, develop, and implement operations and integrated mission systems for WESCAM customers and internal personnel.
· Training coordination, scheduling, and execution of WESCAM operations and integrated mission systems training courses.
· Work closely with external vendors in developing internal technical expertise for technical support of operations and integrated mission systems.
· Serve as a member of specialized technical support staff to provide input, direction, and training to Field Service Engineers and Customers.
· Assist in the development of best practices for the operations of WESCAM MX-series products and integrated mission systems.
· Assist at the operations level for the commission of WESCAM products integrated on customer platforms.
· Design and review course assessments, evaluations, validations, and creative feedback improvement for continued success.
· Support Technical Publications and Logistics Engineering efforts as required.
· Proactively interface with ILS disciplines, Engineering, Field Service, and other WESCAM organizations as required.
· Support the validation of Service Procedures, as a part of New Product Introductions (NPI).
· Review Technical Publications and Training materials, as required.
· Responsible for own travel accommodations based on customer/tasking schedule requirements.
· Communicate with contacts inside and outside own team for coordination of support, operational processes, practices, and procedures.
· Work under moderate supervision but may be independent on larger, complex projects or assignments.
· Set own objectives for own job area to meet goals of projects and assignments.
· Communicate with customers and vendors inside and outside own team and Company.
· Work consists of building and adjusting basic systems to solve problems or integrations for MX centric demonstrations.
· Problems are usually solved by drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis.
· Manage company-owned demo assets and associated logistics for coordinated support of tradeshows and demonstrations.
· Integrate MX series surveillance turrets onto aircraft with adherence to FAA approved installation methods.
· Assist with other activities around the Loveland, CO facility including work in and around aircraft.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience; or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience operating WESCAM MX-series products in a military or law enforcement environment. Previous end-user experience with aircraft, tower, or aerostat-based MX-10/15 sensor systems is desired.
Airborne Law Enforcement (ALE), Special Operations, AFSOC, DOD, or other similar experience is preferred.
Over 200+ hours of manned airborne operational ISR flight experience is desired. MC-12, AC-130, P-3/P-8, airborne law enforcement or similar mission experience is desired.
A professional Trainer’s certificate or equivalent experience (CTT+ or military equivalent)
Minimum of 5 years of professional training experience
Candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive instructor-level knowledge and experience supporting advanced sensor operator training programs
Familiarity with US Government training standards and training related MIL-STDs
Experience in developing technical training courses
Familiarity of E-Learning principles and technologies
Must be a US Citizen.
This position may require the ability to travel domestically and internationally. Up to 50% travel can be expected
Preferred Additional Skills:
· Active DoD Secret clearance or higher is preferred.
· Experience leading teams is desirable
Special Operations, AFSOC, DOD, Airborne Law Enforcement or other similar experience is desired.
· 4 years’ experience with MS Office applications including Word and Excel is required as well as with specialized software test programs.
· 4 years’ experience communicating clearly (written and verbal) with technical and non-technical customers (internal/external).
· Direct experience with systems integration, software, optical, and electro-mechanical systems is preferred. Previous work experience with aircraft, tower, or aerostat-based MX-Series sensor systems is highly desired.
· Familiarity with government contracting is preferred but not required.
· Previous experience communicating with contacts, within and outside the department, on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to reach an understanding/agreement.
· Previous success working under limited supervision or autonomously.
· Previous experience successfully prioritizing and managing multiple projects at one time. This would include proven, acute attention to detail & excellent organizational skills.
