Job Description:
The Business Development Customer Account Manager is responsible for driving customer engagement and growth within the DoD and national security space market. Working closely with senior division leaders and cross-functional teams, this role focuses on building strong customer relationships, identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, and supporting strategic growth objectives for the Space Systems Sector. This position serves as a key interface with DoD customers, with emphasis on understanding mission needs, acquisition priorities, budget signals, and emerging requirements across space-related systems and capabilities.
Reporting to the Division Business Development Lead, the Customer Account Manager will develop and execute account engagement strategies that strengthen customer relationships, improve market positioning, and support pursuit development in Title 10 markets. Success in this role requires regular customer interaction, strong knowledge of the defense acquisition environment, and close coordination with business development, capture, technical, and program teams.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and execute customer engagement strategies that support new business growth across space-based remote sensing and related mission areas for core Title 10 customers.
- Serve as a key customer interface for assigned accounts, maintaining relationships and identifying mission needs, acquisition priorities, and emerging opportunities aligned with business area objectives.
- Support business development and capture activities in alignment with the L3Harris Stage/Gate process, helping to mature opportunities and build a qualified pipeline to achieve annual financial objectives.
- Assist capture teams by contributing customer insight, competitive assessments, and win strategy inputs to improve positioning on strategic pursuits.
- Identify new markets, unmet customer needs, and potential pursuits or campaigns relevant to the business area portfolio.
- Analyze Government and customer budget information, procurement activity, and mission trends to support strategic account planning and growth decisions.
- Represent L3Harris at customer meetings, industry events, and related conferences
- Prepare and maintain internal business development documentation, account plans, briefing materials, and pipeline updates in accordance with L3Harris procedures.
- Ability to Travel – up to 25%
- Active Top Secret Clearance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 12 years prior experience, Graduate Degree with 10 years prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in Business Development, Capture Management, Customer Account Management, Program Management, or related growth-oriented roles within aerospace, defense, intelligence, or space markets.
- Professional experience engaging with leaders at relevant government agencies, major prime contractors, small and new-space companies
- Experience building customer relationships and supporting opportunity identification, qualification, and shaping activities.
- Prior or current experience with business development and capture processes, including opportunity pipeline development, gate reviews, and transition from opportunity shaping to capture.
- Experience contributing to competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, and strategic pursuit planning.
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Preferred Clearance: Top Secret with SCI / SAP
- Ability to analyze customer priorities, Government budget data, acquisition plans, and market conditions to inform strategy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including development of internal documentation, briefing materials, and strategic account plans.
- Prior military service or operational experience supporting DoD customers
- Experience engaging with Service modernization, requirements, or acquisition organizations
- Strong executive-level communication and relationship-building skills
- Must work independently under limited supervision
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $146,000.00- $271,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
