Job Description:

The Sr. Manager of Operations will lead the execution, transformation, and standardization of Fused/Night Vision Panoramic within the Integrated Vision Solutions Sector. This includes implementing one piece flow, lean manufacturing technics, and leading 3P events. Additionally, this position will be responsible for strategic and daily execution of the operations across all functions/stakeholders, and maintain ownership of Ops cost inputs/targets of program EAC (Estimate at complete).   

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the organization in the development and implementation of operating philosophies, business strategies, and drive new manufacturing initiatives across the enterprise. 
  • Support and develop a team responsible for changing culture and mindset, developing a strong succession plan, and holding team members accountable.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain success metrics, incorporating best practices, and effectively communicating improvements.
  • Achieve weekly/monthly build/delivery schedules 100%.
  • Support factory transformations including deploying advanced manufacturing processes/automation, training initiatives and/or successfully moving production lines.
  • Own capacity planning to include labor and equipment, identifying and implementing needs for capex investment.
  • Conduct production and process flow optimization to support full rate production.
  • Effectively manage and positively influence behavior and culture across multiple functions within a matrix organization.
  • Attend and actively participate in Integrated Program Team (IPT), and work closely with the Operations Program Manager (OPM) to manage the budget and hold cost/schedule.
  • Develop a world-class operations team through staffing, training, and talent management initiatives while serving as a role model for integrity, inclusion, and diversity.
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet cost, quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, EHS, and continuous improvement commitments.
  • Fundamental knowledge in EHS to drive zero injury plans with a proactive safety approach.
  • Support Technical Tiger Teams for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) assessment on programs and production processes where applicable. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or similar field and minimum 12 years prior related experience with manufacturing methods, lean methodology, product quality management systems. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience working with root cause problem solving methodologies

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with manufacturing electronics and/or electro-optical products
  • Understanding and utilization of continuous improvement practices.
  • Black Belt/Six Sigma certification or equivalent Lean Manufacturing certifications
  • Experience with NPI process and transitioning programs from Engineering to Quality
  • Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills across all levels of the organization
  • Aerospace & Defense (A&D) manufacturing experience
  • Experience in the following fields of Operational Excellence: 
    o    Understanding of lean principals around pull systems, min/max controls, material delivery strategies, etc. 
    o    Root Cause Analysis (RCA) 
    o    5S+1 Visual Factory 
    o    Gemba implementation
  • Strong experience implementing a metric driven approach across all Operations functions
  • Ability to drive employee engagement through: 
    o    Leader standard work 
    o    Factory Gemba walk process 
    o    Quality improvements and zero defect strategies 
    o    Comprehensive, proactive safety initiatives 
    o    Lean deployment
