Job Description: 

 

The L3Harris Communications Systems segment is seeking a Senior Manager of Operational Excellence.  The successful candidate will be tasked with leading people and structure while aligning the team to meet the needs of the business, championing improvements in cost and quality, leveraging standard best practices, as well as formulating and implementing a roadmap for e3 and LHX NeXt Productivity programs.  This role will oversee performance across the IVS sector, comprising of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Tempe, Arizona.

The incumbent will be an inspirational, business-orientated leader with a demonstrated track record of developing best-in-class programs and initiatives for large multi-million-dollar global organizations within the manufacturing function.  A proven history of effectively partnering with a wide variety of stakeholder groups on operational excellence strategy and execution within a matrixed corporate context is critical.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Lead a team of Operational Excellence specialists to develop the strategic roadmap and program initiatives for Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the IVS business across technical, engineering and manufacturing areas.
  • Develop and lead a team focused on identification of subjects, creation of material, and maintenance of existing content for a newly formed Training Center of Excellence, which provides new and existing employees the necessary training to onboard and maintain performance capabilities.
  • Manage large, complex projects related to strategic initiatives to drive productivity improvements and efficiencies in technical / programs functional areas.
  • Develop robust standard work on deploying all LHX processes for operational excellence deployment, with primary focus on company’s model sites
  • Collaborate with CHQ and segment and sector leadership to foster a learning culture – benchmark constantly to adopt best and standard practices and influence the strategy across the sector.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with site ops leaders – understand and advocate for their needs and co-develop the path the achieve it by deploying e3
  • Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees in continuous improvement methodologies, Lean/Six Sigma, and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes and tools
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills from executive to front line levels, with an ability to collaborate with others as well as motivate and manage a team with excellent consultative, influencing, and conflict management.
  • Act as a change agent for the business, ensuring innovations, developments, and standards are led to successful implementation and proper financial documentation.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.   In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Green Belt Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Black Belt Six Sigma Certification desired
  • PMP/PMI Certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Leadership, Change Management, and Facilitation experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel; Power Point; Word; Visio, SharePoint
  • Proficient with Minitab statistics package
