Job Description:

The L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions (IVS) sector Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for providing operations with the vision, technology, and expertise required for a successful production process. As a leader, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will co-ordinate work and technically consult with manufacturing engineers that support cross-functional teams across multiple program lines. The manager will coordinate with program management, product design engineering, manufacturing engineering and operations management on continuous improvement and root cause corrective action initiatives. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will manage the team and lead projects related to product design and manufacturing processing that advance the manufacturing technologies at L3Harris.

Essential Functions:

  • Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, this position is responsible for the leadership, direction, and performance of engineering activities within a team of highly skilled technical manufacturing engineers
  • Take a hands-on approach to coaching and mentoring the manufacturing engineering team
  • Adopt cutting edge technologies – such as automation and additive manufacturing – including design software, manufacturing equipment, and materials
  • Drive and implement key initiatives within the team and greater manufacturing engineering team such as Lean, Visual Factory, RCCA, NPI process
  • Lead root cause analysis for manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production, to ensure product manufacturability and alignment with business objectives
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to early career professionals
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality to integrate design and process integrity processes such as xFMEAs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills: 

·         Broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across the function

  • Experience leading teams in a high performing organization
  • Manufacturing experience of complex electronics, optics and/or electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience leading the deployment of new manufacturing technologies and new product development
  • Demonstrated track record working in cross-functional teams and influencing organizational change
  • Demonstrated experience / certification in Lean principles; Six Sigma, mistake proofing, and problem solving
  • Highest levels of leadership integrity, openness, compliance, and honesty in all business interactions
