Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Manufacturing Technician C who will be responsible for performing functions associated with the repair of units returned from customers, including evaluating, troubleshooting, performing rework, and quality testing. Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to adjust products, instruments, or equipment during the repair process. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the repair process.
Essential Functions:
- Understand all operations WI’s (assembly, test, & rework) related to customer returns.
- Review all suspected failures per QC WI-8608 and ensure proper evaluation according to criteria and specifications.
- Evaluate customer-returned units as per WI criteria & specifications.
- Escalate potential part non-conformances to Quality and Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE).
- Move failed units to QC, rework cells, or appropriately dispositioned operations.
- Identify failure trends and improvements, and submit Process Improvement Management (PIM) tickets.
- Propose process improvements and identify needs for creation or refurbishment of fixtures.
- Participate in various meetings, committees, and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, and resolve issues, maintaining current knowledge of new developments, requirements, and policies.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years prior experience, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 2 years prior experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Highly skilled and experienced senior support individual contributor able to work under limited supervision with initiative autonomously.
- Basic station troubleshooting knowledge.
- Knowledge and some experience identifying process, fixture, and WI improvements.
- Ability to locate and read drawings and specifications.
- Effective in managing time to support all work cells involved in the repair process.
- Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment.
- Acts as a mentor to lower-level peers and provides guidance on tasks.
- Ability to engage with operators/techs effectively and communicate training requirements.
- May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise.
- Makes recommendations for process improvements.
- Ability to engage with Manufacturing Engineer (ME), Quality Engineer (QE), and SQE, and effectively communicate findings and improvement opportunities.
- Ability to engage with production leadership to identify and correct training gaps.
- Ability to identify and reduce waste (8 Wastes).
