Job Description:


The Manufacturing Technician C is a senior individual contributor responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex manufacturing and rework issues across production operations. This role operates with limited supervision, executes work across multiple related work instructions, and serves as a technical resource to Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams. The Technician C identifies failure trends, supports process improvement initiatives, and mentors lower-level technicians while ensuring compliance with quality and documentation requirements.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform complex rework on parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies in accordance with released work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Execute work across multiple related and referenced work instructions (assembly, test, and rework), ensuring proper sequencing, compliance, and documentation.
  • Evaluate suspected failures in accordance with quality procedures and determine appropriate disposition paths.
  • Interpret work instruction intent and identify gaps, ambiguities, or inefficiencies; escalate findings to Manufacturing Engineering or Quality as appropriate.
  • Determine when units require escalation to Quality, rework cells, or dispositioned operations, and ensure proper routing and documentation.
  • Identify potential part nonconformances and escalate issues to Quality Engineering and Supplier Quality Engineering.
  • Perform data collection, analysis, and documentation to support troubleshooting, rework decisions, and corrective actions.
  • Identify failure trends, recurring defects, and process weaknesses; initiate and submit process improvement or PIM tickets as required.
  • Recommend process, fixture, tooling, or work instruction improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to lower-level technicians, providing guidance and clarification of pass/fail criteria.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Production leadership to resolve issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in meetings, task teams, and cross-functional reviews related to manufacturing performance, quality issues, and process improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with all quality system requirements, including documentation integrity, training requirements, and controlled production conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the role.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and rework enviornment that involves prolonged standing or sitting, repetitive hand motions, and the use of hand tools, microscopes, and test equipment.
  • Handling of chemicals, adhesives, and solvents in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to ESD and safety requirements. 
  • Ability to lift and move materials or assemblies within standard manufacturing limits.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant manufacturing experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior manufacturing related experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience performing complex rework and failure analysis in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience identifying failure trends, recurring defects, or process gaps and supporting corrective or preventive actions. 
  • Ability to interface effectively with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Supplier Quality.
  • Experience recommending process, fixture, tooling, or work instruction improvements.
  • Ability to serve as a technical resource or mentor to lower-level technicians.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 or similar regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test requirements.
