The L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions (IVS) sector Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for providing operations with the vision, technology, and expertise required for a successful production process. As a leader, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will co-ordinate work and technically consult with manufacturing engineers that support cross-functional teams across multiple program lines. In this role you will lead a team of talented engineers and technicians responsible for providing our manufacturing operations with the vision, technology, and expertise they need through the entire production process, from discovery and design to manufacturing and fulfillment.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Reporting to the Sr Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, this position is responsible for the leadership, direction, and performance of engineering activities within a team of manufacturing engineers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production, to establish a proactive maintenance culture to improve productivity and minimize downtime 
  • Ensure Manufacturing Engineering Team is driving improvements in first pass yield, cycle time, efficiency, cost of poor quality
  • Take a hands-on approach to coaching and mentoring the manufacturing engineering team to ensure the team’s success and professional growth
  • Manage engineers and technicians driving projects for new product introduction, tactical support and current product continuous improvement.
  • Coordinating resource allocations with competing priorities across multiple product lines
  • Collaboration with Operations in the execution of production commitments 
  • Use lean, process technology, and automation to continuously improve the manufacturing environments to enhance production efficiency, ensure world class quality and customer satisfaction
  • Partner with the Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality & Continuous Improvement (e3) to integrate process integrity methods such as xFMEAs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) as a daily way of life.   

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills: 

  • Experience leading technical teams in a high performing organization
  • Manufacturing experience in the manufacture of complex electronics, optics and/or electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Demonstrated track record working in cross-functional teams and influencing organizational change
  • Demonstrated experience / certification in Lean principles; Six Sigma, mistake proofing, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data and metrics to drive process improvements and optimization
  • Highest levels of leadership integrity, openness, compliance and honesty in all business interactions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary
