Job Description:

 

 

Join a high-impact Incoming Inspection team that serves as the critical quality gateway supporting a broad and diverse supplier base. As an Experienced Inspector, you will operate autonomously to ensure nonconforming material never reaches our production floor: protecting program schedules, supplier relationships, and product integrity. This is a hands-on precision metrology role for a seasoned inspector who takes ownership of their work, communicates proactively, and brings the judgment needed to make independent decisions in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

 

  • Perform precision dimensional inspections independently using hand measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks, and gauge pins, Thread gauges, as well as advanced equipment including Keyence Vision Systems, optical comparators
  • Conduct visual inspections of electronic assemblies, molded components, and mechanical parts using microscopes and magnifiers
  • Identify, document, and escalate nonconforming material through written Nonconformance/Material Review Reports (NMR) with relevant context and supporting data to Supplier Quality Engineers and Technicians (SQE/SQT)
  • Independently identify and nominate Dock-to-Stock (DTS) candidates per established procedures and present nominations to the SQE/SQT
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready inspection records and documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable quality standards including AS9100; identify equipment needs for jobs requiring new or custom metrology tooling
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with buyers, planners, design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and program leadership to resolve quality issues and support production priorities including hot lists and sorting events
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications independently
  • Demonstrated experience generating and maintaining formal inspection documentation, nonconformance reports
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously with limited supervision, apply independent judgment on moderately complex inspection tasks, and resolve most issues without escalation
  • Demonstrated experience with precision hand measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks, and gauge pins

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior inspection experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior inspection experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

 

  • IPC-A-610 Certification for electronic assembly inspection
  • Hexagon CMM Certification with PC-DMIS software hands-on experience
  • Keyence Vision System programming experience
  • Optical component or lens inspection experience using Zygo or similar interferometric measurement systems
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management standards and Material Review Board (MRB) processes
  • Experience performing source inspections at supplier facilities
  • Background in a high-volume incoming inspection environment processing large quantities of mechanical, electronic, or optical components
