Job Description:
Engineering Technician D is a highly developed senior-level individual contributor who performs MIL-STD-810 environmental testing while acting as a mentor to lower-level technicians. This role works autonomously, supporting Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams, and requires extensive subject matter expertise to resolve complex technical issues and support engineering development efforts independently.
Essential Functions
- Perform MIL-STD-810 environmental testing and support multiple simultaneous tests
- Set up and operate environmental test chambers, vibration equipment, electronic test stations, and complex automated test equipment
- Independently evaluate products tested, record and compile test data for reports
- Use testing knowledge and experience to resolve issues and troubleshoot equipment/products
- Train, mentor, and coach lab personnel in technical requirements and MIL-STD-810 testing
- Monitor, approve, and assign work instruction permissions in Factory Logix and MEData
- Review and enforce work instructions, routers, logs, calibration requirements, and SOPs
- Support establishment and implementation of process controls for risk mitigation
- Develop and complete thermal/vibrational surveys using pressure/air flow instrumentation, thermocouples, and data loggers
- Conduct daily walkthroughs inspecting work areas for cleanliness and safety compliance
- Manage test schedules, communicate plans to team members, and schedule overtime for supervisor approval
- Maintain productivity levels at or above company standards and cultivate effective cross-functional teamwork
- Report deviations from standards and identify areas for improvement
- Lift and move heavy equipment or products (typically up to 50 lbs.)
- Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Perform Intricate handling of small components or sensitive equipment with precision .
Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate’s degree with 4 years of prior related experience.
