Job Description:

 

As a member of our technical staff, you will be part of an engineering team in a challenging, fast-paced company where creative designs become production reality. L3Harris - Londonderry has a first shift opening for an Opto-Mechanical Technician in the Manufacturing Engineering Group. The successful candidate will possess the skills to assemble, align, focus, test, troubleshoot and repair optical systems. The primary responsibilities will be to assemble and calibrate test stations as well as align and focus optical stations used for laser and imaging systems. The candidate must be proficient with Windows operating system and Office programs. Both independent and team-centered skills are essential. The successful candidate is a driven professional and detail oriented.

 

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Assembling production equipment including optical test stations
  • Integrating lasers, imaging systems and optical elements into an optical system
  • Focusing and aligning laser and imaging systems
  • Setting up, troubleshooting, and repairing optical and mechanical equipment.
  • Assisting staff in the operation and alignment of lasers and imaging systems
  • Calibrating optical test stations and documenting the procedures used and results

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Requires developing job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

 

 

 Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work independently as well as team environments
  • An understanding of optical and mechanical assembly, including pneumatics
  • Read and comprehend mechanical drawings and BOMs
  • Safely operate power tools and equipment necessary to fabricate parts
