L3Harris’s Integrated Vision Solutions (IVS) sector, headquartered in Londonderry, NH, fuses command and control with real-time situational awareness; the warfighter has actionable intelligence to drive decisive actions and enhance mission success. IVS designs, manufactures and delivers integrated vision technologies providing world-class night vision and laser aiming solutions.


Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, for the Communications & Spectrum Dominance segment, and indirectly to the President of IVS, the Director of Operations will direct and coordinate activities and have overall responsibility for all operational departments defined as Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Facilities and EH&S for the Integrated Vision Solutions (IVS) sector with operations facilities in Londonderry, NH and Tempe, AZ.  


As the Director of Operations, you will manage highly experienced professionals, supervisors, or managers, and lead one or more departments. This role will require communication with parties inside and outside of the organization on matters of strategic importance to influence senior leadership on new concepts, practices, and approaches. The Operations Director establishes overall direction for new processes, systems, and solutions. The Operations Director will also recommend and implement strategies while developing operational plans/goals that directly impact the mid- to long-term function or business area achievements. Advanced management experience, business knowledge, leadership capabilities and a broad background across multiple related professional disciplines will be critical to success in this role. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Sector responsibility for manufacturing, shipping, continuous improvement, EH&S, and facilities.
  • Ensures customer and sector requirements are consistently understood and met with a priority on customer on-time delivery and product quality.
  • Maintains predictable consistency in all elements of operational performance.
  • Employs lean and six sigma principles in both the manufacturing and back-office environments to streamline processes, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
  • Pursues cost reduction through management of material cost/lead-time, reduced rework, reduced manufacturing cycle time, etc. while fully achieving customer requirements.
  • Develops a should-cost analysis based on well-known labor and material costs to ensure predictable and effective cost reduction plans.
  • Oversees organization resources and planning including labor, raw materials, machinery, equipment, tools, and subcontract activity.
  • Promotes collaboration with all other functional elements of the business, specifically including Engineering, Program Management and Business Development to drive product designs that meet customer and manufacturing optimized requirements.
  • Ensures critical participation in proposal development and oversees strategies or tactics to drive cost and product performance goals through material and labor management.
  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or similar field and minimum 15 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience with Estimate at Complete (EAC) program accounting in a high-volume production environment

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Advanced technical degree or Master of Business Administration preferred
  • Experience leading in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of integrated business planning (IBP) and the interrelation between front end sales and production planning
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, materials management and planning, quality, lean/continuous improvement, facilities and EH&S
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP/MES systems, sales and operational planning. 
  • Proven track record of executing key operational metrics (i.e., on-time delivery, yield, COPQ, etc.) and driving continuous improvement
