Job Description:

 

The Associate Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for the safety, cost, quality, delivery, and productivity of the Receiving Inspection and Supplier Quality Technician teams and will provide supplemental leadership to the Supplier Quality Engineering group.  This position will work closely with multiple functional areas to optimize material flow, equipment, and manpower within the area to meet or exceed daily business objectives.  The leader in this position must drive continuous improvement and remove waste and cost from the Inspection and MRB Processes and improve material flows to support the manufacturing process.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Provide day-to-day leadership to the area Group Leader, Receiving Inspectors, Supplier Quality Technicians, and other team members
  • Assume dotted line leadership of Supplier Quality Engineering team.
  • Ensure that shift activities are communicated consistently and effectively to team members
  • Assist in developing Daily/Weekly Inspection plans including Hot List items, Dock to Stock, Bulk, and Normal Inspection items; oversee the daily execution of the plan and associated Lean/Tier activities.
  • Keep team informed, clearly communicate goals and objectives to subordinates and assist them as necessary in developing effective daily plans.
  • Work cross-functionally with IVS Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations Quality to resolve issues, drive corrective actions, and enhance supplier performance.
  • Define and hold teams accountable for Receiving Inspection KPIs: safety, quality, delivery, cost, etc.
  • Review Daily Management Boards, lead daily standups and daily/weekly meetings.
  • Assure conformance to product specifications and work instructions.
  • Lead yield improvement activities and drive measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and Inspection efficiency utilizing Lean/Six Sigma Principles.
  • Identify and perform capital equipment justification and process Capital Equipment Request (CER) as required.
  • Drive advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping & cost reduction opportunities.  Assure financial goals and measures are met. Support data analytics associated with Supplier Cost of Poor Quality (SCOPQ) and suggest solutions to be implemented to reduce the cost
  • Perform weekly, monthly and quarterly staffing requirement evaluations as necessary, identify any excesses or shortfalls in staffing, take action to resolve any deficiencies or excess to the plan.
  • Conduct periodic assessments of all work areas for safety and cleanliness. Identify any issues, concerns or areas for improvement. Lead team in Safety, 5S, ESD, and FOD protocols, be an exemplary role model.
  • Continually review and enforce the use and maintenance of work instructions, QMS Requirement, logs, scrap tickets, RTI Process, training matrix, calibration requirements and other company procedures.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly status reports as required. 
  • Depending upon candidate experience, Supplier Quality Engineering tasks may also be assigned on a limited basis including Managing assigned Suppliers, SRD and PCN Processing, FAI Report Review/Approval, and CCB Submittal/coordination.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree with 6 years prior experience, Graduate Degree with 4 years prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • Excellent communication and teambuilding skills and an ability to manage relationships with internal and external customers, fostering a relationship of trust and mutual respect
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements for Mechanical, Optical, and Electronic components (GD&T, MIL/ISO, IPC, JEDEC, etc.)
  • Strong business process flow documentation and diagramming skills
  • Develop and improve functional specifications, department instructions and training documentation
  • Relevant experience in Quality Assurance, Inspection, and/or Supplier Quality.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
