Essential Functions: 

We are seeking an systems engineer to join our Launch Facilities team. The SE will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and sustaining our Vandenburg launch facility. The ideal candidate will have some background in space systems, stakeholder management experience, integration & test experience, industrial engineering experience, facility design and management. Support technically through the product/program full life cycle including  facility design, satellite and launch vehicle integration & test, verification, and sustainment.

 

  • Support the processing and integration of satellites into launch vehicles in a payload processing facility.  Ensuring all facility systems and interfaces correctly support and meet requirements.
  • Participate and support testing and validation procedures to ensure the functionality and reliability of facility systems in support of satellite processing prior to launch.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including facility designs, assembly procedures, test plans, and operational guidelines.
  • Work closely with diverse cross-functional teams, including design engineers, chief systems engineer, project managers, safety, support contractors and technicians to ensure seamless integration and successful mission processing.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during spacecraft processing facility checkout, support operations, hardware modifications, processing operations, while employing a methodical and analytical approach.

 

Qualifications:  

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or have completed their Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a government clearance, TS/SCI as required.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with satellite payload integration, testing, and launch operations.
  • Understanding of spacecraft processing or equivalent facilities including clean rooms, HVAC, power systems, cranes, vapor detection systems, spacecraft and launch vehicle ground support equipment
  • Experience working with and presenting in front of government officers.
  • Experience working in a space vehicle assembly building or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of Vandenberg Space Force Base operations and procedures.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as NASA, DoD, ISR, EWR 127.1,  AFSPCMAN 91-710 and commercial spaceflight regulations.
  • 0-2 years of experience in systems engineering, preferably within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Proficiency in using engineering tools and software like Autocad, Creo PTC, Cameo for analysis, simulation, and documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a high-stakes environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, manage stakeholders, and work under minimal supervision.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $70,500 - $129,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
