Job Description:

The Missile Solutions (MSL) Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, compliance, and reliability of materials, components, and special processes provided by external suppliers for high-risk aerospace manufacturing. This role evaluates, audits, and monitors suppliers to ensure compliance with AS9100, Certified Special Process requirements, customer specifications, regulatory standards, and contractual quality requirements.

This position is critical to ensuring suppliers maintain effective Quality Management Systems (QMS) and controlled Certified Special Processes (CSP) capable of consistently delivering conforming product. The ideal candidate brings strong auditing, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and is able to work collaboratively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve quality performance, reduce risk, and strengthen supply chain compliance.

Essential Functions:

• Evaluate new and existing suppliers for capability, QMS effectiveness, and compliance with aerospace, industry, and CSP requirements.
• Conduct supplier QMS and CSP audits to verify compliance with AS9100, internal specifications, customer requirements, and contractual flow-downs.
• Support supplier qualification activities in partnership with cross-functional teams.
• Develop audit criteria and checklists, document findings, and drive timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor supplier performance through data analysis, trend review, and evaluation of nonconformances for potential product impact.
• Investigate supplier-related quality issues, determine root cause, and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
• Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities to enhance quality, reduce variation, improve efficiency, and lower supply chain risk.
• Provide guidance to suppliers on QMS, CSP qualification requirements, internal process specifications, and applicable industry standards.
• Ensure supplier compliance with applicable regulatory, industry, customer, and internal quality requirements.
• Support internal audits, customer audits, and third-party AS9100 registrar audits through documentation and compliance evidence.
• Become proficient in MSL systems, procedures, standard work, and databases used to manage supplier continuity and process metrics.
• Comply with company policies and time-reporting requirements.
• Travel up to 60% or more may be required, as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience in root cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective/preventive action related to audit findings, escapes, and nonconformances.
• Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, and/or Lead Auditor certification.
• Ability to analyze data from multiple sources and develop action plans based on findings.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
• Prior auditing experience required; aerospace and defense experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of AS9100 QMS and CSP requirements.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, process requirements, quality clauses, and contractual flow-down requirements.
• Experience using internal and external data systems such as Power BI, EXPO, Nadcap eAuditNet, and OASIS, as applicable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including audit report preparation and cross-functional collaboration.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $96,000 - $178,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont and Virginia is $84,000 - $156,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to  experience and geographic location.
