Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking Embedded Software Engineer in Grand Rapids, Michigan to work on a dynamic team supporting design, development, integration, and test of embedded computing systems in support of XM30 Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle and the Ground Systems business area. The L3Harris team is developing the most advanced and secure vehicle mission systems prototypes. These technologies provide the ground market with advanced capability to replace the M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle.
Will work closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system.
Essential Functions:
Data Architecture and Data Modeling - Magic Draw Cameo tool suite - Ground Combat Systems (GCS) Common Infrastructure (GCIA) specification and Digital Architecture Modeling Language (DAML) - VICTORY, FACE, GCIA and MOSA Standards - C++ software development and architecture Additional preferred skills: - Experience in requirements development - UML/SysML for system modeling - Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) reference architecture and FACE Data Models - System/software level design of ground combat vehicles -Agile development design principles

- Development will support L3Harris mission systems integration architecture to support swappable electronics, sensors and effectors with associated software services to enable remote operations, automation and autonomy. The architecture will use the company’s FACE TSS digital backbone.
- Development will support customer deployments of MOSA capabilities
- Systems/software development of equipment, sensor, and cognition components in a FACE compliant manner. Examples include:
- Sensor control
- Data exploitation and reduction
- Data mgt
- Unmanned asset control
- Systems/software development of integration software for advanced capabilities to be deployed in the framework
- Integrating 3rd party AI classifier software
- Operator HMI development
- Systems/software development of equipment, sensor, and cognition components in a FACE compliant manner. Examples include:
- Interact with customers throughout the software lifecycle including major design and/or architecture reviews.
- Utilize embedded software fundamentals and the ability to code, integrate, and troubleshoot complex safety critical designs.
- Work with low level debug/board bring up utilizing lab equipment.
- Travel expected to customer site in Detroit, MI and Palm Bay, FL to support program meetings

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field) and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- 7 years of professional development experience programming embedded systems including experience with RTOS.
- Experience with standards such as MOSA and FACE.
- 7+ years of work experience with C/C++ and Python. Other experience in C#, .NET, Java,
- 3+ years of work experience with Software/Systems modeling (SysML/FACE UDDL),
- 2+ years of work experience with unreal engine Jenkins pipeline or other DevSecOps,
- Experience with Hardware and Software integration and test.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Relevant integration and test experience on complex military systems.
- Working knowledge of interfaces and handoffs with digital engineering.
- Full software development lifecycle experience including requirements flow-down and decomposition, allocation to design, translation to code, hardware/software integration, design verification/product qual, transition to production, fielded product support, including changes for component obsolescence.
- Utilizing tools/processes to support a structured work flow (requirements management, configuration management, workflow and change control, etc).
- Familiarity with Linux development environment and tools.
- Familiarity with Deos.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $115,000 - $213,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
