Job Description:
The Avionics Field Engineer 747-8 is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics systems on aircraft. This role ensures that all avionics equipment operates efficiently and complies with aviation regulations and standards.
Essential Functions:
· Installation: Install avionics systems and equipment, including navigation, communication, and flight control systems, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
· Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on avionics systems to ensure they are functioning correctly. Troubleshoot and repair any issues that arise.
· Testing: Conduct functional and operational tests of avionics systems using specialized test equipment to ensure proper performance and reliability.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Ensure all documentation complies with FAA regulations and company policies.
· Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
· Calibration: Calibrate avionics systems and equipment to ensure accurate performance.
· Upgrades: Perform software updates and hardware upgrades on avionics systems as required.
· Training: Stay current with new technologies and advancements in avionics systems. Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
· Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Report any unsafe conditions or practices to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or related field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License, AET) are a plus.
· Experience: 747-8I Minimum of 2 years of experience in avionics maintenance and repair.
Skills:
· Proficiency in using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.
· Strong understanding of electronic circuits and avionics systems.
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
· Certifications: Relevant certifications in avionics maintenance are a plus.
· Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
