Job Description:

 

The Airframe & Powerplant Field Engineer FSR for program aircraft, Flexible day/swing shift and able to alternate with co-workers on weekend standby in support of maintenance and operations of program aircraft and ground support systems.  Responsibilities including but not limited to; Aircraft launch / recovery, engineering and technical support to Operations and Maintenance, Weekend and Holiday support based on flying schedule. Assist in the coordination, support, resolution of engineering, technical and logistics issues. Support field team repairs and modifications on program aircraft. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to supporting, FAA return to service of program components, configuration management, and informal training.  Interpret engineering drawings and technical publications for maintenance. Candidate will interface with the customer, users, and subcontractors as required in support of program requirements.

 

Essential Functions:

·        Inspection: Perform detailed inspections of aircraft airframes and powerplant systems to identify any wear, damage, or discrepancies. Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess the condition of aircraft components.

·        Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on aircraft airframes, engines, and related systems. Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems to ensure aircraft safety and airworthiness.

·        Overhaul: Overhaul aircraft engines and airframes as needed, following manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.

·        Testing: Perform functional and operational tests on aircraft systems and components to ensure proper performance and reliability.

·        Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts usage. Ensure all documentation complies with FAA regulations and company policies.

·        Compliance: Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with FAA regulations, industry standards, and company policies.

·        Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in aircraft systems using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.

·        Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Report any unsafe conditions or practices to the appropriate personnel.

·        Training: Stay current with new technologies and advancements in aircraft maintenance. Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

·        Tool Management: Maintain and manage tools and equipment used in aircraft maintenance. Ensure tools are calibrated and in good working condition.

Qualifications:

·        Education:  Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. Completion of an FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician school is preferred.

·        Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in aircraft maintenance and repair.  Military background w/747-8i  experience is preferred 

·        10 years demonstrated experience in aircraft maintenance, and modifications.  Be familiar with My Boeing Fleet, able to read and understand aircraft engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics. Candidate will have experience configuring, troubleshooting and testing of aircraft systems.  Candidate will be familiar with operational demands of the program aircraft and will possess or be able to obtain and retain a security clearance.  Required skills include excellent written and oral communications and the ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point). Ability to travel is necessary, have a "can do" attitude and enjoys being a part of a dynamic team. Employee will possess a Secret security clearance.

·         Certifications: FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification is required.

·        Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
